Here are some great things to do and see in and around Karoola Cottage.
We’ve included in this list some shorter trips and other day trips in our beautiful region of Tasmania.

25 MINUTES TO BRIDESTOWe LAVENDER FARM

Bridestowe Lavender estate is the worlds largest privately owned lavender farm. When visiting the farm you are free to wander through the flowers and witness the production process of lavender oil. There is also a cafe and shop selling Bridestowe’s 100% Tasmanian products on site. Bridestowe is located just 25 minutes from Karoola Cottage.

5 MINUTES TO LILYDALE FALLS

There are 2 waterfalls at Lilydale Falls and both within easy walk of the onsite car park. The walking level to reach both of these falls is rated easy. There is a park and reserve by the car park. So feel free to take a picnic along for the trip. Lilydale Falls is located just 5 minutes from Karoola Cottage.

WE ARE ON THE TAMAR VALLEY WINE ROUTE

There are so many amazing wineries within Karoola Cottage’s immediate vicinity. Within just 20 minutes drive, with some being even closer, there are at least 10 wineries to choose from. We recommend especially Bay of Fires, Jantz and Cover Hill for a wonderful wine and food service.

10 MINUTES TO HOLLYBANK TREETOPS ADVENTURE PARK

There is something for everyone at Hollybank Treetops. You can choose from a zip-lining, high ropes or sedgeway tour. There’s also a cosy cafe with a roaring fire and board games for family who just want to observe. Set in bushland there are plenty of walking paths and areas to picnic. Bike hire to make use of the many tracks is also available.

45 MINUTES TO low head penguin tours

Penguin tours at low head are held in the evening, at last light when the Fairy Penguins are returning to their burrows after fishing at sea all day. Be sure to book on the website in advance and to read the rules and regulations about visiting these protected animals.

25 MINUTES TO launceston’s cataract gorge

There’s so much to do at the “Gorge”. You can walk the pathway originally built in the 1890s along the cliff face looking down onto the South Esk River. Take the chairlift, watch the peacocks put on a show, grab something to eat at several outlets and, in the summertime, take a swim for free in the basin pool.

 
Clover Hill Winery Tasmania

10 MINUTES TO CLOVER HILL WINERY AND CELLAR DOOR

Clover Hill is closely located to Karoola Cottage. Clover Hill’s restaurant and cellar door sit within an architectural splendor of wood and metal construction. Take in the amazing district views from the outdoor seating area and enjoy a platter and a bottle of sparkling.

40 MINUTES TO BARNBOUGLE AND LOST FARM GOLFING EXPERIENCES

Barnbougle and it’s sister gold course, Lost farm, need no introduction to golfing enthusiasts. Set among the dunes of the east coast this links course has been designed to fit seamlessly into the environment.
